Soap Opera is the second album by art collective We're in the Water.

"We're in the Water's Soap Opera is very solid, surrealist synth-pop. It has the smooth, subtle quirk of Röyksopp and Fischerspooner and a high quality of musicality on even the more dance tracks, where normally melody would be sacrificed for minimalism and percussion.

We're in the Water maintains punch with rippling emotion in every track. I love the hesitant pauses and drops in the clubby tracks like Veneer and Resist Me. The whole album pulls well between a retro sensibility and solid futurism. Scorned starts right out with massive orchestration, into beautifully layered multi tracked and auto-tuned vox, into tight drums and arpeggiations that would make Giorgio Moroder swoon.

My favourite tracks are actually the strange introspective ballads that create an impenetrable cinematic quality. Stage rides atop an Enya-esque ostinato glitch-meets-chillwave drums, with increasingly dynamic musical flourishes. Courage to Kiss with its dugga-tap 80's bass drum breakdown and talking samples, into detuning sweet cracking vocal and sweeping swells of synthesizer pads, with wet effects bubbling under the surface, really carries this strange cinematic musicality.

As a whole this is a well polished, high caliber album of electronic songs that can easily be appreciated by both electronic listeners and anyone who enjoys well-crafted songs." Mike Textbeak
